Botox Q & A
What is Botox®?
Botox® is an injectable anti-aging treatment that helps you recapture your youthful appearance. The active ingredient in Botox® — Clostridium botulinum type A — is a neurotoxin that decreases muscle activity in the injection areas.
Some of the most prominent lines and wrinkles in your face appear after years of muscle movements like raising your eyebrows, squinting, or frowning. But, you don’t have to feel afraid of expressing emotion or making new wrinkles when you have Botox®.
Botox® injections can reduce movement in the targeted muscles, which temporarily smooths out your existing lines and prevents you from developing new wrinkles.
What types of lines and wrinkles does Botox® treat?
Botox® treats dynamic lines and wrinkles — those that appear after years of muscle movements like raising your eyebrows, squinting, or frowning. There are three main areas that dynamic lines and wrinkles appear on the face:
The glabellar area
The glabella is the skin between your eyebrows. This area commonly develops vertical lines, sometimes called 11 lines or frown lines. These lines can make you look perpetually angry, but Botox® can smooth them away.
The forehead
The forehead often develops long horizontal lines as you age. That can make you look worried all the time, but Botox® can give you a smooth forehead again.
The periorbital area
The periorbital area is the skin around your eyes. Crow’s feet — the lines that fan out from your eyes — are one of the most common signs of aging skin. Botox® can reduce crow’s feet so you can smile without fear.
Botox® is an upper-face treatment. While ideal for dynamic lines and wrinkles, it’s not the right treatment for static wrinkles (those collagen loss causes). Executive Medicine of Texas can recommend other treatment options for static wrinkles if you need a whole-face refresher.
How long does Botox® last?
After your 10-minute Botox® treatment in the Executive Medicine of Texas office, you may see results in as little as 24 hours. After that, you see a steady improvement, with full results in 30 days. Your results can last for up to four months.
Can I still move my face after Botox® treatment?
Properly-administered Botox® simply relaxes your muscles and diminishes lines and wrinkles. It won’t keep you from making normal expressions. Good Botox® is natural-looking Botox® — and the experts at Executive Medicine of Texas have the extensive injection expertise needed to give you a beautiful result.
You don’t have to feel afraid of expressing emotion or making new wrinkles when you have Botox®. Book your appointment online or call Executive Medicine of Texas to arrange your treatment.
